NewVA Connects is assisting the Roanoke City Council in coming up with the funds to place a new, public, fenced, off-leash dog park in Roanoke City Limits. The proposed site is currently a half-acre at Fishburn Park located off of Brambleton Ave. in Roanoke, VA. This will be the first off-leash, fenced, public dog park in Roanoke. Over the coming months, we will be working to get a fence up, benches in, trees and shrubery planted, and much more. Please stay tuned to this site to see how you can get involved, as well as what progress we are making.

To create a fenced, off-leash, public dog park where well-behaved canine citizens can run, play and exercise in a clean, safe environment; to develop a beautiful and well-maintained public space open to dog lovers and friends who will uphold the park's rules and regulations; to view the dog park as a community project in partnership with the City of Roanoke and area civic organizations that satisfies the needs of dog owners and non-dog owners alike.

It wasn't easy and the competition was fierce! But we did choose one! Thanks to everyone who came out to support us last night, the entire event was a great success (and a lot of fun!)! post on 5/1/08
